LENT SERMON SERIES: EXODUS

Sometimes all you need for inspiration is a Google search. This project began with an image that was found on Igniter Media. While I always prefer creating designs from scratch, this image was the perfect jumping off point for the development of a full package of graphics, slides, and printed media needed for Lent 2025 at Hales Corners Lutheran.

This is the original slide graphic that was purchased from IgniterMedia.com. It has the style we were going for and the pastor in charge of this series loved the icons. While Igniter often provides multiple pieces of creative for a sermon series, in this case, this was all that was available.

DIGITAL

While the original artwork was extremely close to what we wanted, I was asked to change out the font. After presenting a variety of font options and combinations, this is what was selected. The biggest challenge in this was finding a font to use as the “x” in Exodus. I wanted to find one that blended with the rest of the letters but stood out just enough. From there, the rest of the digital pieces were developed. In order to create a cohesive look and feel during the season of Lent, a number of slides, social media, and website graphics were created.

PRINT

There were quite a few print deliverables requested for this project. We needed something for the congregation to take home to track their progress through Exodus. It was decided that we would create a magnet with stickers that coordinated with the teachings each Wednesday and Sunday during Lent. The symbols used on the stickers were also used in larger, round signs that were displayed in two different areas of the church. A vertical 4’ x 6’ display was at the front of the church, and a larger display was located in the Atrium. Each round sign was displayed at the front of the Sanctuary during the coordinating lesson, and then moved to the Atrium display to create a visual of the journey we had completed so far.

In addition to the signs, magnets, and stickers, a handout was also created that had the Lent/Easter worship and event schedule on one side, and the Exodus reading plan on the other side.
